Welcome from the Headteacher

Our children are at the heart of all we do at Bishop Gilpin.

For more than 250 years, Bishop Gilpin Primary School has been delivering an outstanding education for all pupils in its care.

Our children enjoy rich and engaging learning experiences, which promote ownership of learning and lead to high standards of achievement.  Our children are at the heart of all we do here at Bishop Gilpin. Their successes are a credit to themselves, our staff, governors, clergy and our parents and carers. We recognise the importance of family and aim to make every parent/carer and child feel a sense of belonging.  We prioritise the wellbeing of our children, families and staff.

We create ‘A Firm Foundation for a Lifetime of Learning’ through use of the latest research evidence and our expertise.

Our Christian school values help to create a safe, secure and welcoming environment in which all our children can flourish. Whilst academic standards are very high, we have a strong reputation for developing the character and wellbeing of pupils.

Standards in Music and Sport are also exceptionally high, with our specialist teachers providing many opportunities for our students to excel.

Discover more about how our children enjoy their learning experiences at Bishop Gilpin through our website, or arrange a visit through our school office.

Tours  for prospective children and their parents are arranged throughout the Autumn and Spring terms and are published on our website or by arrangement with our Admissions Officer. We are also happy to welcome in year applications and can provide tours on request.

We partner with the NHS to support wellbeing at Bishop Gilpin and we also lead wellbeing support for 15 other Merton schools in the Wave 6 cluster. We facilitate Teaching Hub training in National Professional Qualifications.

To support children, staff and families at Bishop Gilpin and beyond, we have numerous other strong partnerships, including but not limited to: Merton Special Teaching Association, University of Central London, SDBE, Merton LA, and Wandle Teaching School Hub to deliver high quality training for schools across London, and beyond.
