In-year Admissions

In-Year Vacancy Page

In-year vacancies for places outside the normal admissions period will be co-ordinated by Merton Council. Please contact them on 020 8274 4906 or email admissions@merton.gov.uk.

You will need to complete an In-year Transfer Formwhich can be obtained from Merton Council. If you are applying for a Foundation (church) in-year vacancy you will also need to complete a Supplementary Form, which can be downloaded here.

Once the school has received the application details from Merton Admissions Department, the application will be ranked against the school’s current oversubscription criteria and placed on the relevant (Open/Foundation) waiting list accordingly.

If a place becomes available in your child’s year group and your application is at the top of the relevant waiting list you will receive an offer directly from the school within 10 school working days.

If no vacancy is available, you will be notified and your application will remain on the relevant waiting list for a full term.  If you wish to remain on the waiting list thereafter, we request that you update the school on a termly basis.

FAITH-BASED OVER-SUBSCRIPTION CRITERIA - CLARIFICATION STATEMENT FOR 2020/21 SCHOOL YEAR

The governing body of Bishop Gilpin Church of England Primary School has agreed the following statement in order to clarify how its faith-based oversubscription criteria will be interpreted whilst churches are closed or attendance at church is unsafe due to COVID- 19. This statement has been shared widely with churches in order to ensure that determinations made by relevant ministers concerning church attendance are being made on a consistent basis. If a parent/carer attended a given church prior to the closing of churches for public worship, then where a parent/carer has not subsequently attended worship at a given church for a given period, the parent/carer will be considered to have attended worship at that church for that period where either of the following apply:

(a) the church was closed for public worship;

or

(b) by returning to church the parent/carer would not be taking account of government guidance concerning shielding and protecting persons either moderately or extremely clinically vulnerable to COVID-19

Similarly, if a parent/carer was actively involved in the work and mission of a given church (as defined in the school’s Admissions Policy 2020/2021) prior to the closing of churches for public worship, but has not subsequently carried out the relevant activities for a given period, the parent/carer will be considered to have fulfilled the requirements of categories (iv), (v) or (ix) of the foundation oversubscription criteria for that period where either of the above conditions (a) or (b) apply.
